That was one of the more difficult sagas any club has had to go through this season, particularly on the back of such a successful season. The fact the dressing wasn't completely lost (like say Leceister) is a credit to both of them. Just because you have a good captain does not mean the team will never struggle.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
Sorry Kylay, did Noble 'push' the other players when we were struggling the first half of the season? No.

No sentiment, his time is up and we need to move him on. None of this good around the club PR rubbish, find a buyer and sell him.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
Thought it was a good interview between the two of them. I'm not Noble's biggest fan purely as a player, but he has been the glue holding us together through the last 5 managers. You also have to consider Slav's comments last summer about the importance of having domestic players in your side regardless of where you are coaching because they have a bit more skin in the game and will push the other players more so than mercenaries will.

Noble is unquestionably out of form, but navigating the changing room is a big undertaking that gets little press.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
Noble has been anointed the 'face' of West Ham by the owners. He is the person that makes the OS feel like 'home', hence he is now the owners puppet continually making ludicrous statements. Unluckily for the owners, their plan falls down when he plays diabolically poor like this season and the fans start t resent his favouritism ala Nolan.

Well considering he seems to get the brunt of the blame on here when we lose I thought they were very valid points to make. Apologies if that passed you by a bit.

'He only started 27 games in 14/15, care to have a guess at how many of those games we won without him? '

One player doesn't make a team. A perfectly valid counter question would be:

'He started 27 games in 14/15, care to have a guess at how many of those games we lost with him? '

it doesn't mean we lost those games because Noble was playing just the same as it doesn't mean we didn't win the other games because Noble wasn't playing.

I like Noble but him being in the team or not is not the difference between winning or losing. He's a good solid Premier league Pro who's had his ups and downs but he is not irreplaceable.

You're wondering why the manager and the club captain are doing media duties?

Are these 2 gay lovers? Seriously, it sums up what a mickey mouse club we actually are with these 2 on this 'roadshow' all the time..

I have nothing against Noble, why would I, but at the same time I'm not a huge fan either. There is just something annoying about him, it may just be the side parting, or the public schoolboy face, or the fact that it's against the law to leave him out. Either way, he has been a very, very lucky boy, but fair dues to him.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
I remember reading an interview with Gaby Heinze in Le Parisien some years ago where he was asked which out of Real Madrid and Man Utd was the greater club (having played for both).

He replied emphatically that it was Man Utd as, to paraphrase from memory, it was a proper football club where no one acted the star and everyone, from the dinner lady to the biggest players, was treated exactly the same way. They may be cunts but there's a lot to be said for that.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
These two men are a great credit to our club.

Regarding the shaking hands with everyone in the morning, I'll mention again how I had Sir Alex in my concert house a few months back, doing a motivation speech to a load of business students.

Before sitting on a sofa and having a chat with Fjortoft (funny guy), who interviewed him, he did a 15 minute talk on success in football that can translate to any business model. 4 or 5 key points.

The very first point, was communication, which he translated as how when he first went to Man U, the first thing he did was get to know everybody's name, so he could greet tham by name in the morning. Kit men, tea ladies, stewards, the lot, and he made all teh players do the same. This creates a atmosphere of unity, and it means that the players don't just turn up for 90 minutes on Saturday, but live the right way all week. It's about being a decent human first.

I agreed with that, so I take pleasure in hearing Bilic is instilling the same attitude at West Ham.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
Cheers Trev. It's a ridiculous stat and just shows his importance to the team, as TWe says below.

Of course he isn't a world beater and he's clearly not playing as well as last season, but I can't help feeling that many of those coating him off will only be happy with a player with the combined ability of Modric and Kante. Despite his average form, I don't think he's ever been more important to what remains a fragile side.

I'm still waiting to hear who should start instead of him. As for complaining about what he says in this interview, I don't get that either.

Nagel 2:49 Wed Mar 1
Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
Not saying this to knock Noble but all these stats are meaningless by themselves. It's like when Payet was injured for a couple of months last season and we weren't scoring so automatically it means we're a one man team - completely forgetting that the likes of Carroll, Sakho and Lanzini were also out for much of the same period.

In short, it's a team game and all the stats you like won't change that.

indeed he is, just goes to show what a little bit of time and a good run of games can do for a player.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
I agree with Sven

until the wankers want to progress properly and buy better then it is what it is, there isn't anyone better to replace Noble in the middle

I guess we can try Kayoute in there again but based on form this year he's behind Noble?

Obianng has become a beast, fuck me he looks a different player tbh, he is really turning into an excellent signing

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
'The last time we won a league game without Noble was 2014.'

That's not really that astonishing considering he's hardly missed a game in 2015 - 2016. It is more a reflection of his ever presence in the team than a reflection of the teams ability to win a game without him in the side...if you don't try then you don't know!

Noble has been excellent for us over the years and hopefully he stays because I think he can still do a job.
But if we are going to this NEXT LEVEL we need a better player as our first choice.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
I'm a big Noble fan, but he isn't having the best of seasons which isn't helped by the fact that last season was one of the best is had which is making his shortcomings this season stand out more.

I would like to see Fernandez given more game time in the middle, he has impressed me every time he has played and adds an injection of pace in the middle that Noble doesn't have.
